Question Best pickup for technical riffage.

I'm looking to replace the bridge pickup in my Agile Septor 7. I am looking for a really tight, aggressive and defined sounding pickup. The Agile has a basswood body and a maple neck. My current main rig is a Marshall 8100 head, boosted with a stock Boss sd-1, through a Randall KHX 4x12(2 V30's and 2 T75's x-patterned). The Lundgren's and the Bareknuckles intrest me but, I need a better head more than I need a super expensive pickup. If anybody has something they are trying to get rid of; just let me know. Thanks.

I just can't do that yet. I have a savings account through my job that I can't touch until late November. Then I will have about a $2500 budget. So right now it's just guitar upgrades.

Hey, there are a lot of great sounding recordings out there done with the old Marshall Valvestates, nothing wrong with using one.

I vote Blackouts.

If you're looking for clarity and power, the actives are the way to go. I've gone through many pickups in search for the right tone for technical riffs. Like I said, if you want clarity that is really aggressive, the actives are perfect. I haven't found many passives that will do what I look for.

Suggestions: Blackout 7's. I've played on these and they have amazing output. Very, very clear and precise. Boosted highs and mid-range over the EMGs. Also, not as compressed.

EMG 7's. The 707 and the 81-7 are two of some of they choices they offer. Both the blackouts and emgs require routing no matter which blackout size you get. The EMGs offer a more compressed tone, not as much output, but still a lot. The mids and highs compared to the blackouts are a little turned down.

Personally, I like the compressed tone and I'm fine with doing any routing for the tone I want. I have the EMG setup in my RG7321, which is made of the same materials as your Agile. I just don't remember if it's the Septor or the Interceptor that has the 707's in them now stock...

An EVO7, I think. The thing is, actives are somewhere between fine and awesome for rhythm, but sound god damned terrible for leads. Then again, I'm big on neck single coils for leads anyways.

Whether it's laughable or irrational, this is the path that ALL great men walk!

If there's no road, we'll pave it with our own hands!
The magma in our hearts is blazing like flames!
Who the hell do you think we are?

One of my band mates has a Ceramic Bareknuckle Nailbomb in his bridge and to be honest, it's simply the best sounding riff enhancing pickup I've ever heard.
