I actually dig the look of it, and honestly the wear/pitting isn't THAT big a deal. My problem was the actual metal of the trem was stripping - the trem body where the arm holder screws in was stripped out, so that even replacing the holder couldn't take a bit of play out of it.

I find it highly annoying when the bridge on my one guitar, from a 1997 model, looks like ass, while an 8 yr older bridge looks new.

You could've dropped a floyd thumbscrew bar on it, it's a pretty easy mod.

Probably not, dude - it's not the arm holder that's stripped out, it's the actual body.

This is augmented by the fact that it's so stripped that the last time I tried to pull the arm holder out so I could douse the whole thing in lok-tite and screw it back up in the hopes that'd fix it, I couldn't even unscrew the arm holder because there was a part on the body where the threads were totally bare, so you hit that, it'd unalign itself, and then it'd go nowhere. Seriously, dude - this trem is on its last legs. It's 17 years old, lol.

Besides, if I'm putting an OFR arm on a LoPro (a bridge where I think one of the few uncontrovertable advantages over a Floyd is the pop-in arm), I'd rather just go for the OFR for the higher quality metal. I dug the OFR7 I got to play briefly, so I'll be curious to spend some quality playtime with one on a guitar I'm already familiar with.

I hate the pop in arm, it never stays in place, and needs constant "rigging" to get it to work. The length and curve of the bar also bothers me. I never even bother with it anymore, that new trem I ordered will have a Schaller thumbscrew bar before the knife edges touch my trem posts.

I like the smoother feel of the Edge though, by far.

More to come in a week, I guess. For now, I'm pretty excited to have something new.

Based on the picture posted at the beginning of this thread, and the difference between that route and mine, it should be a pretty good fit. I mean, the original Edge has basically the same "footprint" as an OFR, correct?

No, the Edge is symmetrical on the sides, the OFR is asymmetrical with the bar side being wider(from saddle to edge). The Gotoh is the same.

This might be less pronounced on the 7 string OFR though, I've never seen one in person.

You are correct.

So, he'll have a little more gap on the non bar side. No big deal there.
