Leaving out the single coil
![]() The guitar in question is the one in the middle of this picture, an Ibanez RG4EX1. I recieved a dimarzio PAF pro and D-sonic in the mail yesterday, and I wired it up with an old diagram off the dimarzio website. Problem is, it wasn't correct, and now I ask you all to help me find that Ibanez wiring diagram for a seven string (H-H configuration) that uses dimarzio pickups. It's what I used when I was installing a Airnorton7 and a evo7 in my RG7321... Thanks in advance guys! And just in case you're wondering, here's how the wiring turned out Position 1 (bridge)- D-sonic polepiece coil active Position 2- No signal Position 3- All of coils- polepiece coil of D-sonic weak Position 4- Bar of D-sonic strong, P.P. of D-sonic weak, Left PAF pro strong, right PAF no signal Position 5 (neck)- Bar of D-sonic strong, P.P. of D-sonic weak, left PAF pro weak, right PAF pro strong ![]()

if you are going to use 5 way switch then the position 2 and 4 wont be functional the way dimarzio diagram shows
http://www.dimarzio.com//media/diagrams/E.pdf you can also try the k7 diagram http://www.ibanez.com/support/wiring/K7.gif check this link for other diagrams Guitarelectronics.com Inc. Universal Wiring |

Position 1- Bridge full power Position 2- not sure, but it involves both coils of bridge PU Position 3- Both humbuckers position 4- neck parallel position 5- neck full power That's how my RG7321 is wired up with a 5-way switch. |

dimarzio's do not have a blue wire.
![]() That's not the diagram I used on my RG7321 either... I have to find an Ibanez with two dimarzio Humbuckers, and that diagram will work. |

i am not sure what diagram you are looking for but this one is very useful actually
according to this diagram i can understand that blue + start south coil white - start south coil black + start north coil red - start south coil notice on this ibby diagram that the shielding on pickups is inverted and if i am not mistaken the pickup it self supposed to be placed inverted as well to create hum canceling effect black and white are taped together and also lead to coil split i know that diamrzio use different color code and here is the diamrzio color code grean + start south coil white - finish south coil red + start north coil black - finish north coil standard diamrzio humbacker wiring |

Thank you so much. However, I would much rather have the elusive diagram I used to wire my RG7321... How hard could it be to find an Ibanez with two dimarzio humbuckers, I thought... Then I looked on the Ibanez website at new models and the closest thing was a JS1000. Too bad it has a three-way toggle instead of a 5-way switch.
Maybe I'll just crack open my RG7321 and copy the wiring of that. ![]() |

This is what you're looking for... I know it works as I've used it myself, though the pup labeled 'neck' at the bottom of the diagram is the bridge

damn. My guitar is wired exactly like technomancer's diagram yet I'm still getting the wrong results. Perhaps this is a different switch? It is a "guitar center exclusive" after all...
