WTF!?!?! Pickup adjustment screw "stripped"

So I'm installing one of my new Dimarzio pickups, which use the long screw + spring adjustment setup, and the damn thing completely stripped out on one side.

It looks like dimarzio doesn't actually thread the pickups, but stuffs the holes with some really thick wax type stuff. Well, that stuff has disappeared, so I've got a neck pickup I can't adjust on one side.

Any ideas on a remedy?

Yeah, well, I was hoping someone was more clever than I. I've stuck a slightly larger wood screw through it for the time being.

Brass is pretty soft. You have a few options. One is to surround (or fill) the hole with solder. Then redrill it undersized, allowing the screw to cut threads. This works best with a self-tapping screw, but if you don't have one, you can just file a groove in the screw down at the bottom.

There are also clip-on nuts (can't remember the nicknames) both with actual nuts built onto them, or with just bent half-circles that conform to multiple thread sizes.

Thirdly, you can solder or superglue a nut to the underside of the baseplate. Solder is better, the glue can crack away.

By the way, all of these methods work for baseplates that have been drilled out for direct mounting as well. If you do a search on that you might find some more suggestions.

Take a small center punch and lightly dimple punch marks on two sides of the original hole. It frenches the brass and re-tap the hole. Works every time
You can also french the hole with side cutters as well, just make sure you don`t cut all the way through the ear, and lop it off. You want to crimp it.

Clever! I like that...

However, I don't see brass anywhere in the vicinity of a Dimarzio Humbucker. The entire baseplate, as far as I can see, is a heavy plastic. The mounting holes were filled with a very thick wax that the screws could cut threads into. This particular one just popped through.

Anyway, as I mentioned, wood screw to the rescue.
