Neck Pickup to go with Lundgren M7

Because I can't make a decision without asking the internet about it too,

Thanks to TheMissing I'm soon to be a member of the lundgren M7 family ( ) and I need a neck pickup to go with it. I'm leaning towards the Air Norton 7 but I am open to suggestions and thus, this thread. My main use for the neck pickup is cleans, but I use it for most leads too. I like the smoothness of the AN6 and the clean sound is amazing, but I understand the AN7 sounds different. So I'm not sure what I want. I'm pretty sure I want to stay in Dimarzioland but I have no experience with their other pickups besides the X2N6 and AN6 in my NJ Warlock. So... Recommend me stuff! Soundclips would be much much appreciated too.

Also, are there any pickups that resemble the M7, or any way to mod these pickups to make them look like each other? I don't know what's uglier, the M7 itself or having two pickups that look completely different

Most people seem to love the AN7. A Duncan Jazz 7 may go nicely with the M7 as well. What guitar are you putting it in?

The M7 neck is apparently very good, and superbly matched to the bridge. One of the mods here commented on how awesome the middle position was, but I can't remember which one. Plus, the pickups will match. Besides, I don't think the M7s are ugly myself; I like the way they look.

Other than that, though, the AN7s are .

Durrr. Maybe I should have mentioned that.

It's going in an Agile Septor 727. Mahogany body, not entirely sure of the neck but I think it's maple, ebony fretboard.

I don't really want the M7 because I'm trying to keep budget down and I feel that lower-end pickups can easily satisfy my neck pickup needs. I'd rather not go Duncan either- my friend has the Jazz 7 and I wasn't too fond of it, and in general Duncans don't really interest me.

AN7 would suit you well then I suppose. A PAF7 works alright in mahogany, neckwise too IMO.

I tried the AN7 with my M7 in my old UV and didn't like the combo as much as it went with the original Blaze Neck, which was a better match tonally, imo.

Exactly.

I'd put something a little hotter in the neck position, as the AN7 doesn't seem that it would make a good match for that ballsy-ass M7. Think of trying a Blaze Neck or maybe a DA7 Neck..

DA7 interests me, I'd probably prefer it over a Blaze. And what with the nature of the Lundgren the idea of an active-sounding-passive would probably be a much better match. Does anyone know anything about the cleans on the DA7?

Though I have the AN and X2N combo in my NJ Warlock and the output difference isn't too horrible. But the X2N isn't an M7 and neither of those are 7s. Bah who knows. I'll probably end up with a DA7.

the DA7 is by far my favorite seven string neck pickup, very loud and hot and should balance great with even the hottest bridge pickup. but it also has a really nice pristine clean sound.

i would avoid the Blaze neck with the M7, it will just get buried alive (at least that's been my experience with it when using it with an X2N7). the AN7 would actually do a better job than the Blaze, although it's lower in output, it has alot more cutting power than the Blaze neck.
