![]() | Simple single coil mounting question i have a guitar similar to this one ![]() it has no pickguard and i have to install 2 single coil pickups, one in the neck and one in the middle, but what do i need to mount them since there is no pickguard? i bought the guitar without the single coils installed so i need to buy the hardware/parts somewhere online. I'm assuming maybe it's just some springs and some screws. also, could i mount the humbucker in the same manner, without a pickup ring? thanks! ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | it´s usually screws and a foam pad instead of springs. you could direct mount your humbuckers, but if it´s not routed to do so, it might not work out that well... depends heavily on the route that you´ve got under the humbucker, and it would leave holes from the pickup ring screws too. -------------------------------------- Æn Æppl Æ Dæi, Kiips De Dåktor Awæi |

![]() | yeah, i was reading on stew mac and they have a kit for single coils/humbucker direct mounts that use two long screws and a rubber hose as a spring i believe. i'll have to look and see about the foam pad. yeah, i'll have to see about the humbucker. i'd like to mount it like that but i don't want to route the body to make it work. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For single coils, these are what you want: Single-coil Pickup Height Springs at Stewart-MacDonald With a long-ish screw, of course. You can generally use the same springs to mount humbuckers, from what I've heard. You want the string to vibrate, that's a key component in how you get a great sound in my opinion. --zimbloth (completely out of context) |
