What tone pot?

I'm replacing the pots on my UV and I'm a bit confused. I know I need a 500k log pot for the volume, but I ordered a 250k linear pot for the tone. Now I'm getting the impression that should be a 500k pot as well?

both pots in the UV are 500k stock... it won't hurt anything to mix and match values though. try the 250k, you might like it better.

for example, i like to use a 500k volume and two 250k's on my strats, because i like the way it sounds.

Blackrg is a jewel in the rough
250K tone pots are standard on many fenders with s/coil pickups because single coils have so much high freq

In my experience 250K pots dont go so well with humbuckers, they end up sounding a little too warm, swapped the 250s for 500K on an old jackson i had and it sounded much better

tho as Edroz sez, you might like this sound

Higher number means less treble rolled off at the max position. That's all.
