Bareknuckle defintion?

I just picked up a late 80's early nineties NJ series Warlock with a kahler trem. I'm looking to get some new pups for it. I was gonna go active but I'd rather cut the battery out. How defined are the bareknuckle pickups? Are the lundgren M6s more? I want a 80's metal middy/bright pickup with tight bass as i will be playing in C standard tuning. Any suggestions? Will bareknuckle do the job?

The BKPs have supreme articulation and clarity, with superb tone to go along with it. The Lundgrens sound a little more sterile and overly bright to me, in an alder bolt-on Warlock I would definitely run with the BKPs or Seymour Duncans.

I'd go with BKPs. For an 80s mid-biased tone the Painkillers would work really well. Lundgrens would not work so well. They are scooped, very compressed, and extremely bright..

For that 80's mid-heavy sound, a Nailbomb would work really well. It is an extremely versatile pickup. I haven't tried the Painkiller, but that should work, too.

The nailbombs, as tim puts it, are basically really hot pickups with a classic rock voicing. Similarly voiced to the rebel yells actually, in terms of response, just way hotter.

I've heard 5 sets of BKPs now (all on 6ers, but still) and every one of them, from the mule to the emeralds to the cold sweats have been ridiculously retardly articulate. The painkillers (although i played in e standard with them) were about as clear and defined as any pickup ive ever heard, and they ARE listed as their tightest pickup, if you notice.

i just got a painkiller bridge and coldsweat neck for my bolt on caparison dellinger 2, and seriously, GET THESE PICKUPS. Im being honest when i say i will not go back to other brands of pickup i was so impressed by these.

Serious clarity even when you use 2 much gain (i wanted to see just how good they were so i whacked the gain on my fireball up to 8)

definition and chunk

I've got a Nailbomb in the bridge of my Carvin and it is exteremely versatile.
I don't know about "classic rock" voicing, but they do have a good amount of mids to them.
Very organic sounding (as the description states on their web page).
They are a great lead pickup as well as a good rhythm pickup.
It just sounds amazing thru my Recto.
If you're really looking for that "80's" tone I'd go with either a Holydiver ,Painkiller or a VHII.
Read the Descriptions and email Tim and tell him what guitar they are going into ans what rig you play thru. He will guide you.
I love both the Nailbomb and the ColdSweat that I have in my Carvin.
If I could afford them they'd be in all of my guitars.
The JB in my Jackson Sl2H solist sounds kind of bland next to the Nailbomb.
I'd love to try a MiracleMan in there.
They brought my Carvin "To Life".

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

Yes. Email or call Him if you want advice. He is infinitely wise. Seriously. The guy is a legend.

Btw, the engraving is actually laser etch - it's only a few microns deep. I didn't know that till today..
