Air New 7 Neck?

I think the New 7 Neck is too hot for a neck pickup, but I love the bridge pickup (I know many disagree with this statement). Has anyone tried "airing" the neck pickup to reduce the output? It would still be bright, but might have that cool hollow sound that air pickups have. So, anyone? If not I'll post a report when I do it.

The other purpose of the “air” design is to reliably reproduce the performance of vintage humbuckers (1950s and 60s), many of which contain magnets weakened by age and mishandling. Weakened or "aged" magnets are inherently unstable, and therefore cause unpredictable performance. Airbuckers utilize stable, full-strength magnets, yet the magnetic field is the same as produced by an "aged" magnet, thus offering the performance advantage without the unpredictability.

I dunno... I'm not too sure if that's a good thing for the pickup seeing as DiMarzio makes them pre "aired", as it were, so maybe there's some technical issues...

all they do is use a smaller magnet or some sort of spacer. not a big deal really. shit you could slide anything nonmagnetic in between the poles and magnet and be good to go
