dude. like, when you screw your pickup in, it adjusts how close it is to the strings. how far away is it when your guitar is string up? the pickup is fine im betting

Yeah seriously 1/2" is a HUGE gap between the pickup and the strings. Raise that puppy up and I'm betting you'll hear a massive difference. I'd raise the pickup so it's only 1/4" from the strings as a starting point and go from there. My pups are even closer than that.

Orange 2x12 - Damn am I colorful

yeah, the only pickup i keep a 1/2" away from my strings is an X2N7, just because it's so ridiculously high output .

The PAF 7 is not a hot howlin' lead pickup for tech metal - my K7 was not as easy to pinch as my stock RG7420. If you wanted something über-high gain then you want an Evolution or a D-Activator, not a vintage, bluesy pickup designed to sound like a 50's Patent-Applied-For Gibson Seth Lover humbucker.
while it is really low output, it is still a great pickup. i used one in both my 7321 and SRC-207, had no problem with pinch's, you just have to set your amp up for it, as i know you know it's still one of my most favored pup's, just throw it at a amp channel with allot of gain (and a ts helps) and DIG IN with the pick. i hear how low output they are and not high enough gain all the time, they are plenty high enough

well i adjusted the hight to about 1/4"(had to put some foam under the pickup) and it does sound a little better and i finally got some highs out of it. Gota test it out with a real amp, maybe my home rig (line6 guitar port/guitar rig3) doesnt do it justice...

Hehe yeah that's a start. The PAF7 is low output, so you'll probably want to raise it even more than that.

even closer?)) will try 1/8" or so

PS does any one know where i could get pick up covers in different colors? I know for sure there used to be some website that sold tiny plastic covers that you could place on top of your pup, that "changed the color of the pick up but didn't change the sound"... at least that's wat they said on the website

i see they got F-spaced hums, standart hums, single coil and 7 string - I hope those 7 string ones are like hums and not as single coils...

in other words - do i need 2 of those 7 string ones or 4 to cover both neck and bridge pups?

and i wonder how long the last, since my paf7 is really close to the strigns and I sweat and palm mute a lot...
