EBMM and Ibanez both use a hard steel "chip" saddle insert that has a piezo element underneath. The EBMM system is a poor design that does indeed have problems if the string isn't running over it at the correct angle. I've had to tilt my bottom string's saddle towards the bass side to get the string to hit the saddle with enough pressure that it produces a clean piezo signal. From what i understand, the GraphTech piezo elements are actually embedded within their graphite/composite saddle pieces, which means they're one piece instead of two. I could be wrong on this, though. I have to order a set of these for my Dean's Tune-O-Matic. And i need to find out if it's possible to jimmy together the wiring to make an 8-string piezo bridge possible on a Hipshot flat-mount bridge. ![]() |

Yes, Stitch, I saw your post. I was directly answering a question someone asked.

so, do the wires come out of the connector to install it? like, do you drill a hole under each saddle for the wire to run through? or do you have to cut one big hole for the connector and all the wires to fit through?

My guess is you run them through one of the extra saddle mounting holes. Floyds have three for each saddle, to cover the full range of saddle travel.

Good thing Mike Sherman has some sweet tools! ![]() They will, however, be stocking OFR6's with piezo installed and sold as a kit pretty soon... ![]() |

Drilling through an OFR baseplate is no joke. They're machined out of case-hardened, billet steel stock. I wouldn't attempt it without a drill press and a tungstun crabide or titanium bit.
