JB-7 in neck?

Has anybody here tried a Seymour Duncan JB-7 in the neck position? If so, how did it sound?

I haven't tried it, but i imagine seymour duncan didn't think it'd sound good, as they dont make a neck model of that pickup for sixers or sevens...

I wouldnt. what we should both do is find a custom7 and jazz7 and swap our pickups out and bring the tone.

i jes' need the $$..

3 cheers for free gear!

I have a JB-7 in the neck of my Squier 7. It's one of the best sounding neck pickups I've ever heard, actually.

I love the tone of the JB in many ways, but the bass is just too wooly and loose feeling, for me. (A common complaint. Rewinds and magnet swaps can help.) But those same good things, tonally, translate well to the neck position, and the BAD things, tonally, turn into STRENGTHS in the neck, I feel.

Terrific, singing, round tone, with bite and a real smooth attack. Excellent for leads. You have to pair it up with a high output bridge, however, to match.

I already have a Custom in the bridge, it sounds awesome, but seeing as I already have the JB-7 lying around, I was thinking about trying it out. I'm no soldering expert though, and it'd probably take more than 5 mins for me to fit the JB-7 in the neck(and out again if I didn't like it)... I'm not that busy at the moment though, I could always try it out if I get really bored...

What's in the bridge? I'm tempted to switch the JB and 59 to each others' places in my C7 because with those 14-90s it's basically a jazz guitar by any stretch...

I have a JB Jr in the neck of my sixer Soloist, and it fucking slays. Like Bob said, he uses one in the neck of his guitar. Just make sure to back it way off the strings, since it will be much hotter than a neck wound pickup.
