Blood Tempest is just really niceBlood Tempest is just really nice
Maple definitely does sound cool, but I like real dark sounding guitars. I love how maple sounds for leads and such, but I just love the br00tal dark tonez.

Dark clouds in your heaven.
Your end has only begun.
You can scream but there's no rescue,
I promise I'll make you sure that you die in time.

Course, it depends on the guitar construction etc., yada yada. Apples and oranges, unless you can A/B same exact shit, which I never have.

according to warmoth, ebony is brighter

i've owned lots of guitars with ebony and maple boards, i've found them to be fairly close. i do agree that maple has a more crisp, snappy attack than ebony. but yeah, as you stated, there are many other factors in how a guitar will sound other than the fretboard wood

It's because of flammability, iirc. Fiebing's is really horse saddle dye, so go and find an equestrian Tack shop that does repairs on saddles, and they'll sell you some. That's where I bought my supply, and I paid much less than Stewmac.

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.
