![]() ![]() ![]() | I once fixed that on my NJ Warlock 6-string I took it to a music store and the guy called their tech about it. he said I could as well do it myself cause the tech would do nothing different then I could what I did was take a few matches (you know the little wood-things to make fire). only the wooden part and broke them into little pieces then mixed those pieces with a strong wood glue and filled the hole with that. let it dry for a while (I think I actually let it dry one or two days cause I didnt have time to continue) then put the screw back in. I hardly ever play my 6s anymore, but I used to play it for quite a while after that repair and so far it has not given me any more problems |

![]() ![]() ![]() | fill it as completely as you can I'd say the woodfiller sounds like a good idea but I dont have any experience with that wasnt too difficult to get the screw back in of course you dont have a hole in their then but those are pointy wood-screws so you can get them in either with some preasure and your screwdriver or you can drill a small hole in there first |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What Hexer described is exactly how it is done. Put a bit of wood glue in the hole, then fit as many matches as you can into the hole...touching up with wood glue if you need to. Then try and compress it all as much as possible. Stick a bradawl in the hole when it comes to screwing into it to make sure you get it in on centre. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would advocate that matches and glue will be a better fix than wood filler/putty. IIRC a UV is basswood so you might want to be cautious of "over filling" the hole with match sticks and then wedging a screw back in. Just like a new piece of wood with no pilot hole you could split the surrounding wood. If you fill it almost completely be sure to drill a new pilot hole before putting the screw in. As Stitch and Hexer have explained it's a pretty simple fix that should be well within your abilities. ![]() PS - this is an excellent fix for those strap button screws that are getting loose too. |
