you still have to solder, and it cost more I'd keep doing it the old fashioned way, but yeah this is how guys string lots of battery packs together for RC stuff, etc.

I always thought that the blackouts wouldn't benefit from the 18v mod, from what I remember hearing, but I could be wrong.

That's what people on the Duncan forum were saying as well. Not much of a noticable difference with the 18v mod for the Blackouts, they were designed to not need it to improve headroom.
