I came a long way to solving my 2027 pickup dilemma last night
You know I've been complaining about this guitar sounding dull and not having that top end I wanted? Yes. I've owned this guitar 6 years now, and only just last night after cocking up the wiring (was tired, and accidentally wired red and white together and had black as hot, basically wiring the pickup out of phase with itself) and thus ended up seeing if that button I never touch would do anything (the tone control).

So I have it all the way up always.

I decide to see what it's like with the tone off, as the out of phase is very bright.

I turn the tone pot off

The sound gets brighter

I get confused

THen suddenly realise I've had the tone pot off for 6 years.

Feel really dumb

Figure out some numpty fool wired the tone pot in reverse

Curse

Realise I have tried out so may pickups and found loads lacking and sounding dull and that actually it's been the tone knob all along.




I really really do feel like a muppet now....

Man, when i got it, I did get the guitar cheaper because the piezo didn't work... Whoever the previous owner paid to rewire the pickups I think made a hash job of it. Glad I know. WIll be fixing it (and my crap wiring I did last night) tomorrow.

Maybe an x2n7 and a DA7(N) is a bad idea in the light of this discovery...

Man, dude... at least you had the sense to stick with the guitar. But as a devoted 2027 owner (it's my main axe), I could never for the life of me really understand your complaints.
