7 string pickup for my S
I own an Ibanez s7320 and I want to switch out the bridge pickup (don't have the funds to swap out the neck pup yet). I am the only guitarist in my band (we play metal) so it needs to be able to chug but still have nice solo tone. My guitar is mahogany for any one who doesn't know. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? Any pickups to stay away from?
btw I don't partake in active pickups. ![]() |

I've had a Lundren M7 in a S7320 before. Didn't like it, especially once cost was figured in. The stock Ibanez pickup sucked so much balls. The DiMarzio Evolution in the one I have right now sounds much better and if you pick around the 20th, 21st fret gets a nice round and sharp solo sound. As nice as it is though, I have still bought a Bareknuckle Nailbomb to replace it since Sikth, the Safety Fire and Nolly all use Nailbombs and their tone owns.

I have an S7320 aswell and I put an EVO 7 in there, I like it. It's much more responsive than the stock pickups and still sounds really heavy for metal.

OK, I like the blaze in my 540s7, and in mahogony evo7 should work well, x2n7 if you are after over the top tone.
Otherwise, check out Duncans, I believe the custom is a good choice for mahogony. If you have the cash, go look at bareknuckles, as they are really really good as well! |

Oh, also, avoid the tone zone7, you'll have nothing but grief, the Blaze Custom to me had a bit of a weird bottom end, but some people like it. Drop Sonic7 also gets good press, but seems to be quite a noisy pickup.
