well that's the thing I'm not trying to achieve exactly the same sound like KoRn had , but I do like their sound a lot, and wouldn't mind having something similar... it's clear and warm and crunchy

That sounds a bit like a DS7.

It's really clear. I even put one in my maple/mahogany J. Custom and it still sounds clear.

If by "crunchy" do you mean vintage crunch sounding or just mean high output?

that's kinda hard to answer, probably mean high output or maybe a little bit of both


I'm guessing I'd be happy with either PAF7 or DS7 because I never really had good pickups and from what I've heard there is a GREAT difference in sound of stock pickups and those mentioned above...

Now I know what to look for and I guess availability and price will determine which one I'll get

Ok. The PAF7 is super low output while the DS7 is high output. You should give DiMarzio.com a look anyway.

Regarding tuners - while I have enough experience drilling stuff and working with wood - I really wouldn't want to do any drilling on my guitar, so I guess for now my choice will be Schaller Machine Heads M6a Mini since as ibznorange mentioned - I wont need any additional work to be done in onrder to install them... but here is a little problem - they all come in packs and tere is only 6 of them there... and also if i got that right - those Schaller M6A are not locking tuners, is that right?

for the tuners, i believe warmoth sells them individually.

Not really. Also you can make it warmer sounding by turning it so the bar is facing the neck. It's a very versatile pickup.

lol even bar to neck, i found it way brighter in my rg. i think it reacts alot to the woods. i lurv it in mahogany

Dimarzio website has sound samples only for PAF7 , but I found pretty cool video on youtube with D Sonic 7 on rg7321

Honestly I like both, and like the idea of reversing D Sonic 7 for different results, but for now I gota choose only 1 and I think it will be PAF7 (for now)
