Misha plays on both an Engl (Invader 100 though, never played a Savage so might be a different sound...?) and a VHT with a Lundgren M7 in the bridge. Might be a good choice. I really like the sound of the dual M7's in the Carvin (swamp ash body, maple neck and fretboard, maple top, stainless frets) no matter what amp it's going through. Sounded great through some Mesa amps at Dave's place as well. Great all around pickup, not just for djenty stuff (I don't play that style heh). although I'm not sure how close it would get to these Jon Shaffer Ice Bucker pickups if that's what you were looking for? That would be my vote though.

lundgrens are too expensive. trying to stay within $400 for the pair.

basically want the same sound as the IB gets with an LP, but with a more Soloist-ish spec guitar.

Talk to Wolfe Macleod. He does a rewind on the JB-7 that sounds amazing in alder.

yeah, but how long does it take?

maybe i'll have to try Mike's Soloist through a VHT sometime, should the opportunity ever arise.

would that get along well with bright guitars and open-sounding high-gainers?

Lundgrens are $410 for the set? Might not get the same sound though, Dave's suggestion was a good one.

Yeah I feel ya man... heck even at $410 for a set it makes me cringe a bit! I wouldn't have scored them for my Carvin unless I found them used like I did.

* Matt thanks Dan for hooking him up for that set of pickups still... such a killer deal!
