WHOA Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not the designer of the Blackouts. They came from our Chief Engineer, Kevin Beller. He's the genius behind the Blackouts. And just to be clear, the Blackouts will not be harmed using 18-volts, but the preamp is designed to provide all of the awesomeness at 9-volts.

Also to add some perspective, none of our pro artists are running Blackouts on 18-volts, but some of them used to run their EMG's on 18.

Good dynamics on ya!

That's interesting to know, I didn't realize (probably my own stupidity at not realizing it ) that any pro musicians were doing the 18v mod

where can i get a 18v for my s7 with emg's i really like the sound now so i would like to upgrade it to its full potiential. also i have a emg in one of my guitars and thinking of running a sd blackout in the other end would that be a problem(both on 18v)/crossing emg and sd together in the same guitar.

just use 2 9 volt batteries in series
wire an extra clip in. the black line of the 2nd clip should hook up to the red line of the first, and the red line of the new one where the red line of the first originally went

ya know, for so long i liked the tone comin from the 707s/81-7s, but the regular ass 81 is (and i admit it) weak and sterile as hell, lol. even with the 18v mod, i cant get it to be as sweet sounding as my 81-7, so now that you all say that the BOs for 6s are like a 707 and 81-7 for sixers, im now sincerely interested in tryin BOs in my 6s

Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL

I has the blackouts, and they are in the loomis. I wins the prize.

*Insert picture of cat looking ridiculously smug*

In other news I have resolved to never change pickups in a non-hardtail guitar again. That was not much fun.

You can run it on 18 and see what you think, but converting back to 9v is a piece of cake. There are plenty of ways to do it. You can even load one battery in, and just junction the terminals together on the open battery clip.
