![]() | Mental torture - emg 817 - blackouts ahb1 hello guys, my new schecter elite 007 has dimarzio blaze pickups on the bridge. it's quite good but has not enough gain for me and not enough sharp tone. the size of the picks are "normal humbucker" not soap bar as can be the EMG 817 or the Blackouts phase 2 from Seymour duncan. here is my question : for a killer sound neo métal, hard core riff witch picksup ( between EMG 817, duncan, X2N7) whitch one do you advise me ??? ( my gear : engl powerball with engl 2x12 v30) i have to say that the only that goes immediatly is the X2N7 ( because of its size) or the blackouts phase 1 and i would have to enlarge my picks'hole for the normal EMG 817. what 's your opinion in my case ? ![]() is the EMG 817 much better than the others duncan (also active) ? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | my reccomendations would be, if your not sure you want emg's, try a dimarzio d-sonic, that pup was the most similar sound to a emg 81-7 that i have encountered. Or get some blackouts for normal size. I wouldnt router my guitar unless you KNEW you were sure you wanted emg's. I'm a have been a emg user for over a decade, but i keep hearing from many musicians in the know, that the blackouts are a little better in sound. I'm thinking about tryin a pair even, and that speaks volumes! |
