Bobbin toppers
Are these simply pieces of adhesive paper? Or are they some sort of plastic? I'm hoping to score a cream Evo 7 soon, and I have a black AN7 in my black 7620. I like the idea of two cream pups in it, but I can't afford to buy a new AN7 just to change its colour.

They're vinyl stickers. I tried them once. They lasted about a week. :\

'Cause they're crap quality and peeled off, or 'cause they looked awful?

It's not really the quality, it's just a bad spot for a sticker. They come right to the edge of the pickup, and unless you're constantly thinking about avoiding them while playing, eventually you'll tap the edge of the pickup with the pick, and nick the topper.

Hmm. I might give one a go. Has anyone ever painted a pup? That'd be an alternative, providing one could find the right sort of paint...

You can paint pickups pretty easily, if you remove the pole pieces, and just put paper or something under the edges of the bobbins.
BTW Chris, pick your strings, not your pickups ![]()
