Evolution in my UV7BK??

I just can't get this freaking blaze bridge to get my mid heavy tone and tightness so I think I want to get back to my evo7 roots.

However anyone put one of these in a pickguard'ed UV? Is it as tight as when its direct mounted say in an rg7620?

Also anyone know off a cheap place to get a green evo? banjomikez has it for $82 shipped but I know there are cheaper places out there.

Have you checked on Ericsguitars.com? He has pretty good prices.

I like the blazes and always have. I also liked the way the evo sounded in Bill's (Popsyche) Custom swirled UV. I think an evo would be awesome.

Yep, I have one in mine.

However, the blaxe seems to sound A LOT better in the bridge if you raise the pole pieces out of the pickup on the 4 bass string side by about 1mm. My pwh has that and came like that, and it's the first time I've really liked the blaze in the bridge. Try that.

I did the same mod to my UV7PWH on James' advice, and it works. I like the sound of my old Evo in his UV7BK more though.

I tried that already and found that the volume was just a bit more on those strings. But I didn't try all the 4 strings so maybe thats why. Did it have some kind of crunch like the evo?

hmm, im going to try this, my UV came with a cream EVO and it sounded fucking brutal but i swapped it for a green blaze ill give this a go before i start looking for a green EVO

Well the blaze does sound a whole lot better with the pole pieces on the last 4 strings raised 1mm or so. Gonna now play around with my EQ as now the blaze has more bass and smidgen more mids (i crave mids)
