![]() ![]() ![]() | 7321 strap button issue Well, about a week and a half into having my 7321 I noticed that the back strap button is wobbling. Now, I had installed strap locks on it, but hadn't noticed anything at that time, so I thought maybe the screw wasn't long enough, so I dig out the original strap buttons, and come to find out - that screw seems to be too short, too! Plus, the screws aren't gripping anymore. What can I do to firmly affix a strap button to this piece without having to resort to drilling a new hole (which I really don't want to do, me + drill = lots of blood, screaming, ambulances, etc)? Would wood glue provide a permanent fix, or just mask the problem for a limited time period? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I had to uninstall my Duncan strap locks when I sold one of my RG's, so here's what I did to fill the hole in. Get a scrap piece of wood and a knife, and shave a little sliver off of the edge, cut it to the depth of the hole, and put it in there. It'll take up some room and help the screw bite. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Buy some wooden toothpicks. Put a touch of glue in the hole, then insert toothpicks, snapping of the excess ends. Once its dried, rescrew the button back in - the toothpicks providing fresh wood for it to grip without you having to drill new holes. ![]() |

![]() This is the simplest SAFE way to fix the problem - the thought of using paper bags make me cringe ![]()

just stating that i have used the paper method before and it worked fine. i remember noticing one of my strap buttons was loose a few days before a month long tour i was doing, stuffed some paper in there, screwed the strap button back in and it got through the whole tour and 3 years later, it's still going strong! ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if you read my post, you'll see i mentioned everyone. ![]() Im just givin ya a hard time man. I could see the paper working just fine, id just rather have the extra security of the actual wood. I imagine if you saturated it with glue the paper would be just fine. Founded or not, id just be more comfortable with the toothpicks. not that id build a house out of those either What guitar is that on, just out of curiousity? |
