SD Blackouts AHB-2?

jumped onto the SD sight to take a look at the AHB-1 retro fit for emg 707's and spotted the Blackouts Metal AHB-2 pickups.

anyone try these or might have an idea how they sound?

they are an updated version of the LiveWire metal pickups. i've never played either of them, so i can't comment on the sound or improvements.

EDIT: just checked the SD site, pretty much tells you everything. nevermind LOL

I was also wondering this.

I was thinking of putting the AHB-1s neck into my guitar but then I saw that they had an AHB-2...

I like a thick awesome metal sound but I'm not sure which one I want.

well from the sounds of it you could get the AHB-1 sound and then kick it up to an even hotter sound with the flip of a switch

AHB-2 is definitely it, then.

daniboy is a jewel in the rough
not too sure about the ahb-2b sounding similar to the ahb-1b since the original livewire metal sounds nothing like an emg 81.

afaik, the livewire metal is a mid-intensive pickup with mondo amount of gain. the blackout metal should be similarly voiced with some minor tweaks with a preamp upgrade. the dual output is a nice touch though.

Exactly. The Blackout Metal will not be a Blackout Bridge substitute or a Blackout Bridge with an output boost. It's the tonal footprint from the Livewire Heavy Metal. We don't mean for it to cause confusion that it's "more metal" than the original Blackout. The word Metal is simply supposed to be code language for all the Livewire Heavy Metal fans, that we haven't abandoned them (since the Livewire Heavy Metal in it's current 18-volt 100k pot format will be discontinued)
