![]() ![]() | Ibanez S7420: info request new bridge + Blackout question Hey guys, I've been considering putting a new trem bridge on my Ibanez S7420 for some time since because of a dent ( probably height adjustment without slackening the strings) caused by the knife edges in the trem rods. Options beside ibanez, and if no, which ibanez bridge to choose from? Also, the pickups are highly microphonic and prone to feedback, I have been considering replacing them by Blackouts. I remember reading somewhere here ( although I cannot find the thread anymore) that the Phase I pu's would be to high to be intsalled in an S series guitar. Is this true? Thnx Wouter Trust your ears. In life and music, what is is but that doesn't always mean it's what it should. Change, is in our hands. |

As far as the blackouts, I know some people have had issues with putting them in, but the same goes for duncans with the pole pieces sticking out of the botoom etc. You may need someone to route the depth of the pickup cavities, but I presume not by too much. I'd measure the depth of the cavities and then see how tall the blackouts are so you know. However, I have seen s7420's with EMG707's in them, so there's enough wood to accomodate the extra depth you may need, but you may have to route. |

![]() | Quickest and easiest way to do so? Dremel? Where I live a luthier isn't really an option, so I may have to settle for someone that knows their way around wood work, or if its a simple task, do it myself. Jetzt liegst du hier, ganz regungslos, in meiner hand und meinem schoß, du bist so kalt... |

I'd say get the measurements of the pickup first, then of how much you can realistically route, and then make a decision from there. Having said that, the Lundgren M7 is a large pickup, and that fit in the s7420 of my other guitarist. |
