Yeah, its the ground. EMG's don't need it. I'd just tape it off and leave it there.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

adding grounding to active pickups can add noise (based on my experience)

apparently, according to EMG's site, bridgegrounds are actually really dangerous. not sure i buy it, although i did see satch get tazed by his guitar once, from what would correlate to emg's warnings
never had a noise issue adding a ground to emg's myself, but if you dont need it just tape it off. one less connection to have to pay attention too

My friends guitar was bridge-grounded, and He had EMG's. Whenever I would play his guitar and my palm would get a little sweaty, I would start to get shocked on my palm.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

they can be dangerous, if you touch something (mic stand) that's grounded to another circuit (whatever outlet the PA is plugged into). some techs wire a capacitor & resistor onto the string ground to try and reduce the shock that comes from that bridge-ground tazing. don't taze satch, bro!

yeah he played a small free show in the parking lot about 3 or 4 years back. hes all buddy buddy with the owner. it was pretty cool, but he touched the mic stand, and you could see it arc along his left arm that was touching the strings

yeah, i've had that happen too, but only with passives oddly enough. i think the "danger" is present with either, as it still works the same way, just there is an additional grounding loop built in the emgs
