EMG question
I took the C7 to band practice tonight, and i noticed the volume, even if the pots were both all the way down, the volume still wasnt all the way off. there was a slight buzz. Seems like something isn't grounded, but yet i look in the back and everything seems solid. Fresh 9v, too. I also pulled out the EMG's to make sure the connectors were connected the right way.
Im sure its something easy to fix and im just missing, but i've never owned a set of EMG707's. They sound fucking BRUTAL though aside from that. \m/ Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high, Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie, Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally. Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread Its branches like a Temple overhead. ~Charles Baudelaire http://www.myspace.com/impurity Brutal Skullfucking Death Metal |

actives don't need to be grounded, so i don't think it was that.
other than that, i don't really know. ![]()

![]() it looks like there was something attached to the tone pot on the body behind the middle prong...but came loose. However, im not seeing anything that was apparently wired to it. Any suggestions? |

sounds like the noise issue everyone has with emg's that i never have. try grounding it to the bridge anyways. sure they say you dont need to
fuck that, do it anyways if youre getting noise. i'll just answer for nick and say your shit is way outdated and 20 years old and while cool for what it is/was, now obsolete. get some blackouts ![]() i dunno, i guess the blackouts dont have that problem though. but i never had it with emg's (not with any of them, not just talking about the 60 ) ![]() im voting for trying a ground anyways, i always did when i've installed emg's

good point
. I'm way too used to FR'sjust install a lug in the control cavity, and ground to there. Just use a conductive screw or something, drive it in to the side of the cavity, and wire up to that |

Seems though that if this were that common of an issue, all HR's or any other EMG-equipped guitar would come said screw. I Dont even think there's a ground wire to be had?

the ground line is the non red signal path line, the black that hooks up to the battery. they are internally grounded which is why technically you dont need to, but i add another ground in there, just because ive never seen a good reason not too. might help things, sure doesnt hurt.
Apparently, according to nick at least, the emg's have that problem, which is supposedly a huge selling point for blackouts ![]() i guess emg just refuses to fix it. maybe none of them have ever had the problem either ![]() |

I had once that problem with EMG and I re-connected everything and problem was gone. With that EMG I'm talking about I even had another problem. I grounded them as ibznorange and the problem was even bigger. So from my experience grounding won't help. Try re-connect everything.
