D string buzz at 12th fret... any insight?
I recently had my 7 string setup and it plays wonderful, especially since i have it strung with .011s lol... But... there is a noticeable fret buzz thats kind of choking out the D string on the 12th fret... Thats really the only note thats worth griping over, the rest of the notes play really well. Im kind of puzzled with it being just that one note thats giving me trouble. When I fret the D string at the 12th fret it looks like its buzzing on the 13th fret, however none of the other strings are giving me this problem... Would a truss rod tweak fix this? Any helpful thoughts are very much appreciated! Thanks

set little higher this string using bridge saddle, if there is no other buzzes, no need for truss rod adjustment

^ thanks for the quick reply! I thought that might be the solution but wanted to ask first... You dont think doing this will affect that strings intonation very much do you?

maybe a wee bit, but nothing you cant fix with the same or less effort than raising the saddle
Reverse Headstocks or Bust

Thanks for all the help! So... would raising the saddle call for backing the saddle out or adjusting it in to correct the intonation? I'm just never satisfied am I? lol... Thanks again for being so helpful
![]() ::edit:: i found a pretty good and simple link Project Guitar :: Adjusting Intonation sorry for all the lame questions lol, but if the guitars harmonic note at the 12th fret is in tune, does that mean that the rest of the notes will fall in correctly? |

No, if the note at the 12th is the same pitch as the harmonic on the twelvth, then you are good. Raising the saddle by a 1/32nd of an inch, is not going to make you intonation go WTFBBQz5k4735. I actually wouldn't even bother if the guitar had "perfect" intonation to begin with.
