![]() | Yet another question about blackouts... Hi there, so I have an emg85 modded to 18v in my guitar and I was wondering if i could just swap it for a blackout without modding it back to 9v. Would a 18v supply change the tone drastically? Sorry if this has been asked before. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You can stay with 18 but they're designed to provide maximum headroom and dynamics at 9 volts. You won't damage it, but one early user said that at 18 volts, he was clipping the input of his POD. I listened to the difference between 9 and 18 volts and I preferred 9 volts on the Blackouts, although I think 18 volts is nearly essential on the EMG circuits. |
