sanchezero has a spectacular aura about
Grover tuner sizes?

I just recently picked up a Schecter 007. It's equipped with standard Grovers and I'd like to replace them with locking tuners. I assume (could be bad ) that the Grover locking rotomatics will swap without drilling, but eed to know for sure.

Also, I'd love to know of any other lockers that would fit the stock Grover holes.

Thanks.

I made that assumption as well, and i was wrong.

The locking mini-Rotomatics are a higher gear ratio than regular mini-Rotomatics, so the rear housing is slightly larger and the stabilizing screw location is different. It's a shame Grover's site (and any of the sites that sell these tuners) don't spell this out in more detail. The main hole for the tuner shaft is the same, but you'll have to drill new holes for the little screws on the back.

Thanks for the info Darren.

To follow up on that, did you need to fill the old holes or were they far enough away that it wasn't an issue?

I didn't install the tuners, as i didn't want to drill extra holes in my Dean's headstock. I've kept them for a project guitar.

I think somebody on here has a Dean Evo that has Planet Waves AutoTrim tuners, and they said they were a direct drop-in replacment for the mini Rotomatics.
