![]() ![]() ![]() | I buy Warmoth "boatneck" size necks and re-sand them instead of paying the $35 surcharge for them to send me "Clapton", "Wolfgang" sized etc. - plus I enjoy working on stuff.... It sounds like your confidence level and anti-screwup mechanisms are in place. There's a type of blue masking tape called "painter's tape" that sticks and unsticks really easily. If you run two parallel strips of it down the neck, you can easily isolate the area(s) you want to reduce, extremely specifically. It makes it near-impossible to keep sanding too far, "just to even things up." I love vernier calipers, you can use them for all sorts of comparative measuring and spacing requirements. Caliper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They don't need to be expensive enough to be greatly accurate at measuring, just adequate for comparing stuff... a locking knob is more important to me than a measuring dial, really. eBay – starrett, mitutoyo and digital caliper items on eBay.com. Find IT on eBay. Of course if you remove wood it increases the warping possibility, but you know that already. Ibanez trussrods are pretty sturdy in my experience (probably cause they need to be? ) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Be careful! Thin necks actually will make your hand feel more fatigued for the same playing time. The key is the shape first, then the thickness. If you really want a decent neck, I'd speak with an experienced luthier, if I were you, and work something out as far as obtaining a custom tailored neck just for you. Most people would say that the RG necks are already too thin for their hands, so reselling the guitar with an overly thin neck could be more complicated. But then, there will always be someone out there wanting a thinner neck. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I understand why do you want to do this. I had the same problem with my RG7620. I found the edges of the neck of my S7420 a lot more comfortable, so I sold the RG. I think that if it's just rounding the edges, it shouldn't be any problem. |
