Push pull pots in s7

i was wondering if anybody knows if a pair of push/pull pots would fit in an s7.
i want to put pretty much the same setup in there as Leon did in his rg7620 of doom, with the series parallel setup, just i dont want to get them and have them not fit, i know the s7 has a small control cavity

Reverse Headstocks or Bust

a standard-size push/pull pot will fit in the volume knob location on a stock S7, but the control cavity is too shallow to fit one in the tone knob location. so you could only do series/parallel switching for one humbucker.

if you're running an S7420 or 7320 with the stock 5-way switching, you already have the neck humbucker in both series and parallel (switch positions 1 and 2)....

yeah, good point, but then it could be funky maintaining the one wire config of the bridge with the parallel setting on push pull. i was honestly just looking to convert it to a 3way.

tried it have you? lol, i figured someone around here has. i can always just buy one and try. Dimarzio pushpulls look awfully short compared to a standard, has anyone else noticed that?

[EDIT]
What about push/pull minipots?

funky, but still possible.

all the push/pull pots i've seen are mini pots, but that doesn't help with this--the mini is the pot diameter, not the height/depth.

you can try, but you won't get one to fit in the tone knob position (the volume knob one just barely fits). open your S control cavity and take a look. push/pull pots are ~ 1 3/8" deep, and there's only about 1/2" of depth for the tone knob.

Why not just set the volume as a master series/parallel switch?

you need all 6 poles of a DPDT to switch one humbucker series to parallel.

you could wire one push/pull as a master full humbucker / coil cut switch, because that only needs 2-3 poles.

yeah youse is has a rightness.

could i set the push pull in the volume to a master coil cut, and then toss in a pair of 2 way miniswitches for series parallel? is that doable?

quite probably, yes. i can't be positive because i haven't sat down and drawn it out, but i can't think of any reason it would not be doable.

The older Japanese Sabers, Radius, and Roadstars had a push/push pot that was just a SPDT switch, but that fits in the tone pot on an S series. So you could have a push/pull on the volume and a push/push on the tone. The volume knob could Series/Parallel one pickup and coil tap the other. Not really what you want but no toggle holes.

Personally I don't mind having a mini toggle or two on the S body shape, but even those are a tight fit. They make 4PDT mini toggles that could be your master Series/Parallel for both pickups. If you find an On/On/On you can make it a Series/Split/Parallel for both pickups.
