dear god i hate gibson truss rods

So today i opened up to correct a slight bow in my neck and i get the right sized socket wrench and do it all extremely carefully. I then look down and notice that little gold flakes are standing out like a case of genital warts on a pornstar.And too my horror the damn brass truss rod nut is stripped beyond belief. So here is my question. HOW THE FUCK DO I GET IT OFF ? i can't stand this damn twangy fret buzz sound i have. I know a good luthier who can replace the whole truss rod if need be, but i don't think it is that extreme. I am never buying a gibson again. Any and all help is very aprecciated.

You're lucky, my friend's SG's truss rod was completely broken, it warped the neck so bad that they couldn't fix it at all and he had to get a new guitar! o.O

Ahh, maybe that's because I, you now, DON'T SPEAK TO PEOPLE WHO BUY GIBSONS, because they kinda suck...

Kidding of course, I'm not a huge gibson fan and i think these days they're stupidly overpriced, but if you get a nice one...
