One of my friends got a USA Les Paul studio for 370$. He decided it was lame and sold it for around 700$. lol.

So here is my question. HOW THE FUCK DO I GET IT OFF ? i can't stand this damn twangy fret buzz sound i have. I know a good luthier who can replace the whole truss rod if need be, but i don't think it is that extreme. I am never buying a gibson again. Any and all help is very aprecciated.
If you can turn the truss rod still, and get the proper playign angle you want, work with it, even if it strips it. The stripping should not happen, and it tells you a little about the guitar maker's craftsmanship.

If all else fails, get it to your luthier and have them modify it with a new, stronger, easier to use truss rod. Some necks, however, will never be right even with a good truss rod in them. If the guitar is too much trouble, maybe sell/trade it and get something you'll Ibanezenjoy.

If you're buzzing, that means you need to loosen it, so at least you're going to be going the easier direction. What are you using to turn it with? Most sockets can't get deep enough into the small trussrod cavity, so you wind up stripping the top of them to shreds. Get yourself a real trussrod tool for Gibsons in the right size, and try again. If that doesn't work, I'd take it to a good tech. You can always go the route of hammering on a socket 1/32" smaller, but you probably don't want to risk damaging the trussrod nut.

Vince, you always make me laugh. Ibanez should consider endorsing you. Even if you're not famous yet, they'll sure sell a lot of guitars just from your special patented coersion method.

And, as for Drew, I agree. I think that Gibsons are overpriced, which is why I would never buy one for anywhere near list. My Les Paul is list priced at $2300, but I paid about $850 for it new with case.

Yes definately so. I bought a brand new Gibson Les Paul Custom in 1988 for $1,150, they go for $3,000 today, and the quality of the insturments are not what they used to be.

But I still love my Les Paul, and would probably buy another if something happened to mine.

Naren, that's the way to do it. Find one of those uses instrument shops that have a whole wall full of used LP's, and then go through them all until you find the one that speaks to you. It's not at all uncommon to hear people grab great LP's for that sort of a price, and when you get a good one, you get a damned good guitar.

Sadly, Fenders are the same way these days - most new strats aren't worth the grand Fender asks, but I remember walking into this shop in the Northampton area that had a whole room of them for around $500... Once again, when you get a good one, they're magical guitars. I got completely lucky when I bought my strat new - it's not the best playing strat I've ever played, but it plays smoothly, feels good, and it has a very distinctive upper-mid cut to it that I haven't found in another strat.

Anyway, moral of this one is if I ever buy a Gibson I'm asking the shop to loan me a few screwdrivers and wrenches, and I'm taking it apart before I commit.

Completely agree with ya, dude. Les Pauls sound great, but you can get a really good guitar, a really bad one, or a mediocre one. Gibson's quality is down compared to how it used to be and from guitar to guitar of the same model, the quality can really differ even though the price might not. My Gibson's list price is WAY higher than my Ibanez RG1527's list price and I bought them both new for roughly the same price.
