7 Dying Trees has a Nailbomb/Cold Sweat combo in a RG1077XL, very similar to your guitar. I'd ask him.

I've been lazy with sound samples, but basically I would say the nailbomb in the bridge is utterly awesome. Cold sweat in the neck is awesome as well. No internet at home, but I will have to endevour to record something at some point!

I don't think bareknuckles are placed in between the M7 and dimarzios to be honest. The M7 does meshuggah and djent very well, and is a very tight pickup, dimarzios are kind of smooth sounding, but with an edge of a compressed sound if that makes sense.

Basically, dive in and try the bareknuckles. I know I am totally over in love with them, but they do sound amazing, have bite, clarity and in the case of the nailbomb aggression as well as just sounding full and alive.

The nailbombs have that EMGish quality in being full sounding, minus the compression and sterility. In short I can see you liking the nailbomb if you like the EMG.

Anyway, as hal pointed out, i've just splurged...

I agree with everything 7DT said. BKP's are amazing. Though he didn't mention the beautiful cleans.

He said that they're priced between the M7 and Dimarzio's.

ah, the old pic is back. missed that, didn’t understand what the boxman was.

to be honest man, i know i’m now living exactly 2 roads away from you now, but i’d also appreciate hearing some sound samples. i’m also going to come round soon and leer at grrr’s arsehole until you let me play your 2027.

i may as well say it here: i actually still can’t work out what djent and GAS actually mean. care to elaborate?

with the nailbombs; do you know if there’s a reason that tim’s unable / unwilling to case them in anything other than the standard double bar / humbucker pole housings?

1) The old pic was a goatse cigarette packet

2) Pop on over, it's never a problem, have a listen . In fact, you are recquired to come over. Lazy git

3) GAS: Gear/Guitar Acquisition Syndrome I think, but I am probably wrong. Basically wanting a piece of gear/amp/guitar really badly. Like drooling through the shop window. Djent: think meshuggah, think the guitar sound, then sing along with the word djent.

4) Tooling. Too expensive to tool up for 7string pickups when the demand is simply a hell of a lot lower than for 6string pickups. cost vs returns basically, same reason he doesn't do 7string single coils, there simply isn't the demand to justify spending the money on tooling to be able to make them.

1) thought it was. just didn’t want to put a name to it. grim. and yet somehow alluring, like a black hole.

2) may well bring my pod with me actually, could do with some help on that

3) not sure i get the phonetics of the djent point, but ok. GAS is that? shit, i think i’ve started recognising symptoms already. arse.

4) maybe my own ignorance, but judging by the amount of BKP purchases posted on this forum i’m surprised to hear that the demand doesn’t equal the construction of more features or options, even if that’s just on an aesthetic level. personally i’d go apeshit for a normal size 7 string nailbomb but with appearance of a soap bar EMG, kind of like a sharper version of the smaller SD blackout. i have to admit that since playing our john’s S series and then his schecter (both 707s), i’ve found that one of the leading reasons for me wanting those oversize actives is the provision of the raised anchor point for the little finger on the picking hand. it actually improved my playing to some degree. well, i felt it did.

1)

2) Yep. all good. I've had mine for 4 years now, love it, so should be able to help

3) I know. I have more than symptoms. For djent, listen to bulb's stuff, it epitomises the "djent" sound.

4) Pinky on the pickup? Never used that at all, i have mine extended, but it's all in the wrist baby! I find that good sounding pickups improve playingas you concentrate harder on not fucking up!
