![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't have noise issues, at least not any more than any other passive pickups. I love the Jazz in the neck, and the JB is my favorite "stock" 7 string bridge pickup - although I might well use a Custom instead of the JB in a mahogany guitar like the 2127... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I don't like the JB in my 2027. It has an annoying top end to it, it's crunchy-ish, and the best pickup i've tried so far, but still lacks and doesn't sit well with the guitar. TDW told me when i got it that at first it'd sound great, and then the sheen would wear off and the top end character would come through. And the top end is really fizzy and brittle. In fact, the sound actually annoys me more than a bit to the point where i hardly play it. I have a 59 in the neck of mine though, so if the jazz is a thicker, bassier, smoother less rocky pickup with a bit more gain then I think it'll be a good choice. Seymour Duncans have definately worked the best out of all the pickups i've tried though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nah, the Custom is a Duncan model. I've got the '59 and JB in my C7 Blackjack. It's not going to sound exactly the same, between the set neck vs. bolt on and 26.5" scale vs. 25.5" between the Schecter and the Ibanez, but... The '59 is a very round, clear, and bluesy sounding pickup. It absolutely slays for moderate gain lead playing (think Gilmour, with just a touch more saturation) and is very articulate, but under high gain the same thick low end tends to make it a little sludgy. I've been told the Jazz is tighter, and more "modern" sounding (whereas the '59 is vlear yet old school), so it might be good for you - I'm certainly curious to try it. The JB, meanwhile, has this kickass snarl in mahogany. It's got all the aggression of a chain saw. If you like Tool, this is a good pickup for you. The fizzy/brittle top end isn't really an issue for me, since I run my rhythm tone pretty dark anyway, but I guess it's worth thinking about... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I playing more on an neck pickup than on a bridge. But in my band (something between Linkin Park and System Of A Down) I play on both....... So JB in bridge will work good for it? Oh and one more are they can work like singles? |

Love the Jazz and my Custom in my mahogany S-7. No noise issues whatsoever. And Yev, i might be wrong, but i think that every hum pickup can be wired so it can be coil-tap. You just need to wire them properly and have a swith for it (push-pull knob, or 5-way switch for instance). Become one of us or die, fuckers. / Rick - RHLC V-P. | |
