Sorry, I meant pos 5. 4 is perfectly quiet. Basically, when the neck is supposed to be in series, it hums.

This is the diagram I used, with the Dimarzio color codes switched to the BKP ones to make life a little easier for me. The black blob with white inside is the white wire.

Ah, ok... Well, wiring is always a bit tricky unless you draw out the diagram. Basically, all you have to figure out is how the BKP colour codes correspond to the old pickups. Sorry have not answered before, but currently have no internet at home!

Anyway, the hum sounds like a grounding issue. Check all the pickups are grounded to the same place, ie, all ground wires need to go to the same place or else you create something known as a ground loop where you get a different ground for different parts. Basically, the centre voltage of some components (the "zero"/"ground" point) will be different, hence having a hum on one as it probably has a different ground point.

Anyway, check the wiring, and if you have to rewire, rewire, it's all good practice anyway, and once you've done it once and understand it and can follow a schematic, then thinking up crazy wirings with push pull pots and switches without having to pay some tech to do it for you is a good thing.

I'd also recommend getting a meaty switch (oak 5 way (I think) has 4 plates that make wiring a bit less confusing, or more, depending on how you look at it)

Oh, and and those diagrams, i find it easier to colour the whole line in

And yeah, these pickups sound amazing. It's not untill you play a guitar you thought sounded amazing that you realise exactly how good they sound.

I have some recordings from the weekend, but not sure i can post them as they may get used from the band. I'll have to knock up a generic riff or something

Already got it done! I couldn't be bothered to colour the whole line, it was well past midnight, and I was just glad to finally make some sense out of it. I got rid of the hum, and now it sounds great!

So does this mean that you will no longer trust techs and just do it yourself from now on ?

Yes, it most certainly does! I saved a good 40€, and learned something new in the process.
