2 questions about pickup rings / 18V mod.

I have 2 Duncan Designed pickups. 105's, which have the EMG707 shape. Obviously, they suck hardcore. I am going to try to change them for DiMarzios or Bare Knuckles, is there a ring that I can use, or am I limited to Blackouts / EMG's? There WAS a pickup story of a guy making his Hellraiser in passives, but he custom built his pickup rings (he was at college or something).

Speaking of which, I hear all these mod's. 18V Modded Blackouts. What does that mean?

The 18V is a mod you can do. Instead of a 9V battery, you can actually put 2 in there.

Wouldn't that EXTEND the 707? Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong one?
