Question Was this a good pickup choice?

Last week, taking a look at ebay, I found a fucking good deal that I bought totally impulsive (an air norton and a tonezone for 98$ both, in new condition) But now, while waiting for them to come, I'm wondering if the Tonezone will work for me, because I play mainly metalcore and stuff like that but also do some soloing, and being a dark sounding pup, I'm afraid that speedy low B riffs turn into a muddy pile of junk

My actual pickups sound great, so I wanted a similar sound, but with better quality (stock brand pickups are never what a Dimarzio, Duncan or EMG are). And the ones that better matched them (talking about EQ) were the Blaze Custom and the Tonezone, but I don't know if the TZ can handle speedy riffs trough lots of gain maybe would be better for me a Blaze Bridge instead?

I have no experience with this pickup, so I would be glad if someone sheds light into this. By the way, the guitar has alder RG style body, bolt-on maple neck and locking trem.

Thanks!

Dude, all of those bridge humbuckers you speak of can "handle" metal. It's just point of reference and taste from there. The Tone Zone 7 is a great pickup. If you really don't like it, you're only out a few bucks because Air Norton's go for about $80 new, and I just about guarantee you won't be getting rid of that pickup. Besides, if you really hate the TZ7, you can always get $50 or $60 for it on Ebay.

TZ7 in alder, eh? I've never tried that one... First, where'd you find an alder 7? I've been half looking for one for ages, I bet that tonewood would kill for an extended range guitar.

Anyway, alder's a bit brighter and snappier than basswood and much brighter than mahogany - I found the TZ7 unuseable in mahogany and not QUITE ideal in basswood (although still very nice). In alder, it might be quite good.

Thanks for the replies dudes. Recently, a friend recorded for me some sound clips with his alder 6-string with a Tonezone on it on my amp. I know it's not the same, and that I can't hear the low B riffing that was what most worried me, but FUCK! IT SOUNDED AWESOME! I can't wait for them to come hehehe.

I'll make a review for both pickups and send some pics when they arrive, thanks!
