Super Huge String Question.

Hey.

I've noticed that I can get a guitar type sound from my BTB405QM bass in the higher registers. As in I can play Pull Harder On The Strings Of Your Martyr and Soul Decoded without any trouble. But I've noticed that the lower the notes go the more harmonic content I seem to be picking up. I simply can't get a decent sound out of my POD when playing on the 5th (B) string (yeah I know it's the guitar model POD, give me a break

).

I guess my real question is is the crappy sound due to the super low notes or the huge string size (You see this isn't only a bass guitar question

)?

I was planning on switching down to the Elixir 5-String Light set and I'm wondering if it'll make much of a difference or is it just to do with the depth of the frequencies...

Elixir NanoWeb strings will always help clarity. As will using lighter gauges. But the fact is a POD isn't designed to handle sub-bass frequencies that a bass low B string provides. Even if it does, you have to make sure your monitors/headphones do.

I already have Elixir Mediums on it.

I use Sennheisser HD205 DJ headphones. They have the widest range I could find.

The pod should be able to handle bass. it does have bass packs, after all.

The bigger the diameter of the string, the more the harmonics warble off from their intended frequencies.
