Guitarwizard is a jewel in the rough
DiMarzio pickup recommendation

I am getting a custom guitar (yes, there will be pics, but I won't tell you anything now ).

The wood combo is:

Neck-Thru with Mapleneck with Mahogany Stripes
Swamp Ash Body
Maple Top

At the moment, I think I will go for:

Air Norton in the Neck Position
Tone Zone in the Bridge Position

What do yu think about that combo?
Personally, I really liked standard blazes in my UV, but the bridge position could use some more mids and "screaminess" for squeals and stuff while riffing, while the blaze neck has just way to much bass for leads, I think. Also both could have more overtones and sing a bit more. I once tried a PRS Custom and I really liked the "singing" character they have when playing leads in the neck position.
But as we all know, a UV is a basswood guitar, and PRS is missing a sring..

I would be very thankful for some suggestions, guys!

I would not go with the TZ7 unless you knew what you were getting into, the 7 version is nothing like the 6 version, in many ways worse from what I've heard. If you want a more hi-end/midrange type pickup, try out a D-Activator, they have that sorta screaminess about them.

I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ

Avoid the TZ7.

If you want scream to come from the bridge, try the evo7, it really is a good pickup, or seeing as it is swamp ash, find a pickup that is very even in eq, I have a 6string through neck that is exact same specs except for it having a 3piece maple neck through, and that sounds awesome with an x2n7 in it, and an air norton in the bridge.

I'd probably advice x2n7 + an7 if you like high gain bridge pickups, or try the evo7/an7 combo.

If you like the blaze bridge but more mids, try the balze custom although the low end on thqat is a bit fizzy.

I tried the blaze custom, and I didn't really like it.
I also think that the X27N wouldn't really do it for me. I don't play any death-metal-like high gain tones, and the most important thing for me is versatility, being also able to play clean etc.

I think I would rather go for:

Evo7 in the bridge
Air Norton in the neck

What do you think? I was just curios because of the wood, reading posts like "pickup xxx sucks im mahogany but totally rocks in xxx" etc.

I was thinking of getting an X2N in the bridge (Mahogany body, for a Death-ish) sound, and I was wondering what I could put in the neck. I usually use the bridge for metal and ONLY metal, neck for jazz/classical. Middle for blues, so if anyone knows a nice balance...

I use EMG81/85's right now and I'm always open to new choices (as long as they are cost effective).

Yeah, I can see that the x2n may a bit of overkill, but I really liked in my 6, as it's got an even response to it that complements the even frequency response of the wood.

However, the evo7 should be good.

Air Norton 7 I have never tried, but I do love the 6string version, just sounds so nice (and i have that in the LACS swamp ash in the neck)

The x2n7 would be a possibility i believe if you can do some wiring to enable you to switch between it being in series and in parralell. Should be easy to achieve with a push pull pot. In fact, if you get two push pull pots you could go "slightly" insane with the wiring and dream up all kinds of stuff!

This, in my opinion is where the X2N7 shines. When wired to do many different things, its one of the most versatile and coolest sounding pickups ever. I love the split and parallel humbucking modes, it sounds really great!
