I've been wanting to get a LP-style guitar for a while now, as well as something green with gold hardware and I see this:
Agile AL-2500 Tribal Green EMG at HomeOld The thing is, I already have a guitar with EMGs and I don't want to limit my sound so I would have to switch the pickups out to passives, but that means I'd have an empty battery slot in the guitar body, which could suck out some tone. So then I was looking at this: Agile AL-2000 Green Spalted at HomeOld I'd still have to switch out the pickups and then get gold hardware for it, but the guitar itself is a lot cheaper (both money-wise and quality-wise). The hardware is a big problem for me because I don't know how much I should expect to pay, or what's "good". So it might not be worth the trouble. So which option is better in the long run? |

Agile AL-2000 w/Floyd Rose White at HomeOld
I say this one. Otherwise, i say the first. the top on it looks SO much nicer. I'm sure the quality is better, too. Besids, you could always sell your other guitar that has EMGs? The problem with the EMGs is that I just want to have a little variety in the sound. Besides, the EMGs I currently have are in my RG1570. I'd have to change my user name!
![]() As for your suggestion, I would totally go for that if it was in green, I just love green with an unhealthy passion. Yea, I know I could do that and it'd probably cover most of the cost of new pickups, but I'm just not cool with the idea of a useless hole in the middle of my guitar. Id go with #1 the quality is better. The price difference between the 2 guitars is roughly 125us. Id say selling the emg's gets you between
50-100us that leaves a 25-75 dollar difference that would be used to buy the gold hard ware. So really by buying guitar 1 youre getting a better guitar for about what it will cost you to buy and fix #2. This is all assuming you will be buyingnew pickups no matter which guitar you get. I like #1 allot to actually so if anyone has played it let me know what its like. compare it to something. |

First one, extra battery cavity just offers better support for other possible active circuits, like an EQ or something.. or Duncanlive wires. I wouldn't worry about tone loss too much.

Yea, I understood that. I want a new guitar so I can have a different pickup arrangement, it's just that I don't know what having an empty battery cavity will do to my tone. That and cost are the only concerns.
I guess that if I pay $360 for the AL-2500, get $100 after selling the EMGs and pay $200 for new passives I end up spending a total of $460. If I get the AL-2000 I pay $225 for the guitar and $200 for the pickups (not including installation costs), which leaves me only $35 for hardware upgrades. So I guess the 2500 would be the better choice. Another thing I didn't mention before though. I'd probably be selling my 7321 to fund this. Blasphemous, yes, but I honestly don't use the low B enough and it gets in the way sometimes. Right now I'm still not positive I want to do this because money's tight right now and the going price for a used 7321 isn't helping at all. |

If you're worried about the tone loss from an empty cavity, then leave a battery in there.

You could always fill the hole left by the battery compartment with wood
![]() Or add piezos or a sustainer or something cool. |
