DiMarzio Blaze Custom

So, I went to the Ishibashi Sound Media in Ochanomizu (Tokyo) today to pick up my guitar, which I had just got the DiMarzio Blaze Custom installed in (the bridge). I had heard such awesome things about it and its descriptions fit exactly what I was looking for in a pickup. I got home and plugged my guitar into the amp and started playing. The sound was heaven. The Ibanez stock pickups were okay, but this new pickup rocks my socks off. Leads are so clear, clean, and searing. There is much more gain than before, which leads to awesome sounding chords. I tried techniques like finger tapping and such and everything sounds better and clearer. Pinch harmonics are soooo easy to produce that I was just regularly playing and kept making pinch harmonics (which all sounded beautiful). Everything sounds so smooth and beautiful. I am very happy. The DiMarzio Blaze Custom is probably the best pickup I've ever played.

(Sorry if my post is a little crazy. I'm a little drunk right now. Had 5 beers, 3 vodkas, and some other assorted drinks...)

Dude I'm totally with you on the BC. I got mine from Eric @ Erics Guitars (thanks Eric!) about a month ago and put it in my 7420. Amazing! Cleaned the low end up tremendously, it's great actually hearing what I'm playing on the 7th string WITH CLARITY! But what I'm most impressed with is the screaming mid-range this thing has. The stuff I do is pretty aggressive to begin with, now it feels like it just wants to rip me apart! I've played it through my 5150 II but haven't had a chance to hear it through my Daul Rec yet since we're in the middle of recording drums. Can't wait for that! Since I installed it I've had 3 other guys tell me they are absolutely going to get one for their 7's (what a bunch of rip-offs!!!), and I haven't even played a show with it yet! I'm actually ordering two more myself for my Uni and S7420.

Agreed,, Blaze customs rock. I'm a little myphed why they are not listed on the DiMarzio site? I have a new 7 now and I'm thinking of putting Blaze custom and Air norton7 in it. I also love the Tone zone as a bridge p/u,,however colors are available with Blaze.

Hey Allen, they are listed on Dimarzio's site, bottom right, click on 7-string, a list will come up of all the 7 pup's. That's how I got a lot of my info on them. I hated the original Blaze in my Uni, but after seeing the specs on the BC and how much they boosted the mids, I was torn between the BC and the TZ. So a friend decided he was going to get the TZ and I went with the BC, we compared them side by side in similar guitars (Ibanez 7420 to a Schecter Omen 7, both basswood with bolt-on necks). IMHO the BC smoked the TZ. Not that the TZ sounded bad, just that the clarity of the BC was much greater, more of a "modern" metal sound if you will. My friend was pissed, he is now ordering the BC for himself.

On a side note, Eric @ Eric's Guitars really helped me with my decision after the assbags at the local shop (who the only authorized Dimarzio dealer in town) couldn't help a bit. If you have a ? about that kind of stuff he'll bend over bacckwards for you. And he got me a great price on the pup's. Eric rules!

BC's rock. I bought one for my UV a month or a bit more ago, put it in, and it did miracles. I've ordered another one, and am seriously thinking of getting YET another for the new UV.

@ Blaze Customs

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways,
we could reverse the particle flow through the gate.
We'll cross the streams.

Does anyone know which Dimarzio 6 string pickup is most similar to the Blaze Custom...

My BC has ruined me... it kills my other pickups....

Damn. I love this pickup. I just spent an hour just jamming by myself with this thing. It sounds so awesome. Great on rhythm guitar and leads. I tried recording something on my computer with rhythm and lead and they both sounded just perfect (although my recording equipment is kind of crappy, which is a minus)... the ultimate metal sound.
