Interested in a 7-string Tele bridge?

Because nobody makes anything like this, and I want low B twang , I'm going to have a machine shop make me some. If anyone else is interested in one, I'd be happy to get extras.

They would be made from sheet steel like vintage Tele bridges, only a bit thicker, .075", like Callaham Vintage Guitars uses (see Callaham's better-engineered Tele bridge). That will sound way more like a real Tele than Mann's brass 7-string Tele bridge, which he's not making anymore. They would be nickel or chrome plated and would use individual barrel saddles like this bridge. They would not have the "sides" like a vintage Tele bridge because that would be insanely more expensive.

They would fit the Duncan Custom Shop Tele bridge pickups--I have one and I've measured it. If the Kent Armstrong 7-stg Tele bridge pickup uses standard string spacing, these bridges would fit it too. They would most likely fit the 7-string Tele bodies that USA Custom Guitars is designing, but I don't know for dead certain because I don't have their specs.

The bridges would run about $150 each, including saddles. They would take a couple months to build from whenever I ordered. I'm not in a rush, but I would like to order sometime before December.

Is anyone interested in one of these, at that price range and order time? No money or absolute commitment needed yet; I'm just gauging interest.

I'm home sick today (very sick) but if I go in tomorrow or friday I'll ask Seymour and Derek if they want one to have around, or know anyone that would want one.

That would be great for a lap steel, too.

that would be awesome--thanks. (hope you feel better soon!)

given the low interest, i'll probably just order for myself and get a few extras, which people could buy off me until they were gone.

you may soon be able to do something about that. Rob at USA Custom Guitars has asked me to loan them one of my extra bridges so they can get the pattern for the mounting holes. once they start building 7-string Tele parts, you could get a body from them drilled to fit my bridges.

I am intrigued.

If only I had money. Can you help me with that?

i hope USACG's 7-string Tele & Strat parts turn out cool. they've been working on them for a while, but i don't know that there's any release date yet. i'm building my own 7-string Tele body to fit a project neck, but it'd be very cool to have other options available.

Start saving if you want the seven string strat or tele parts. I have no idea when they will be released but I hope eventually they will.

I probably should call Rob and see where it all stands.
