![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Pickups for the 1077xl RIght, played it at rehearsal volume yesterday, and whilst I actually have to admit that in basswood the tone zone7 is actually not that bad, i still want something different. Hence asking for people's recommendations. Currently I am thinking about: Bridge : D-Activators, or Evolution or a Blaze Bridge Mid: Blaze Single oir any good recommendations, single coil cavity is fairly tight, but I assume stuff like the rio grande pickups can be shaved down to fit, or am I wrong? Neck: Air Norton (surprise surprise!) or a seymour duncan Jazz. Surprisingly I've never had either in a guitar. Basically what i've found with the guitar is that it's missing a little warmth. It has tons of clarity, so I am not too worried about that, I dunno, just want it to nail a better lead sound than it currently does (sounds like it's lacking in warmth if that makes any sense) |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I initially tried an Evo7 in the bridge of my 1077, but found the highs to be too harsh. I changed it to a Blaze Custom and found it more suitable. The only single-coil I could find without the v-baseplate at the time was the Blaze Middle, but I honestly couldn't hear much difference from the stock pup. I installed an AN7 in the neck to match my other 7s and love it, but in all honesty I've been thinking of changing them all. |

I have to agree with my fellow scotsman here, I recently got an EVO and put it in my 1527 the highs are harsh as f*$%^ I found it to be a really clear, tight and well defined pickup on the low end but i think that to achive this dimarzio have sacrificed the high end. luckily i dont play a whole lot of lead stuff but as an example, i was messing around playing some of the fermented offal discharge solo by necrophagist, (the parts i can play) trem picking the 19th fret on the high D string (at the start of the solo) sounds awful its just really harsh. id recommed it as a rythm pickup, deffo not for lead | |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I haven't liked the D-Activator much. It has a good tight rhythm sound, but I hate its leads. And the rhythm, while good, lacks heart. It sounds lifeless to me. Evo has a fantastic lead sound, I'd say you can't go wrong with it. But my #1 recommendation would be the Lundgren M7 (as usual). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | lol i guess its all personal preference ehh? in retrospect, for leads, its tone would cut through the mix like it was hot butter but i still think its too harsh for my tastes |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not been too impressed by the sound of the M7, it is tight, has great low end, but is all about the djent, which is not what i really want, i have the evo7 in one of my UV's and like it, but do want something different, even though I did ask mr Zimbloth a while back and he did say the evo7 sounds amazing in it. It's a weird one, maybe involving trying out a few different ones! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I liked the Blazes in my RG7421Xl, but you thought the guitar was too bright if you recall. I'd sold the Blazes between then and you buying it though. For a change, how about trying some Bare Knuckles? Tim will rewind your existing singlecoil to solve that hassle. |

![]() | Sounds like you need a D-Sonic! Very crunchy, perfect bass repsonse and an amazing midrange! IMO Blaze Custom is too much... Otherwise the Blaze Bridge gets my vote! In the neck I'd get the Blaze Neck, great lead tones! Up the shut fuck, you must. ![]() |
