Changing ALL my electronix... help? :)

ok, so i´m thinking about ordering a 1 meg volume pot for all of my instruments, and removing all tone knobs and replacing them with switches...

my 6 string fretless (sonn to be finished) ibanez will have a 1 meg pot and a killswitch

my 7 string schecter will have a 1 meg vol. pot and a coil splitter

my bass will have two 1 meg vol. pots, one for each pickup, and a pickup selector in place of the tone knob...

so if anyone has any tips for how the hell i´m supposed to do this, that would be nice...

what i´m wondering, is how would i go about putting killswitch instead of tone knob? would i just take the wire that goes from the volume knob through that first before it goes to the output jack?

and how do i put in a pickup selector? :P

and how do i replace a push/pull coil splitter with a 2-way coil split switch?

if it proves to be too much on one or more of the instruments, i´ll just give it to a pro... if i can do it based on instructions, then hell, i´ll do it myself :P

That's basically it. I'm guessing you've just ordered DPDTs for this, which is overkill but still more than useable - what you do with one of those is connect the hot to one middle lug and the ground to the other middle lug, connect the output jack hot to the lug 'above' the input hot and the output jack ground to the lug 'above' the input ground, and connect the two remaining lugs. If that's unclear (probably is), here's the bottom of the switch arranged so that it's three lugs high, two lugs wide:

Jack - Hot; Jack - Ground
Pot - Hot; Pot - Ground
Connected -><- Connected

You'll have to consult your switch diagram and your pickup manual(s) for that.

i haven´t ordered any yet... i wanna know if i can pull it off first :P

i could buy both 3-way or 2-way switches... for the killswitch, i´ll just use a 2-way on/off switch, and the same for the coil split, but a 3-way for the pup selector...

Ok, then, you can just have the switch wired to connect the hot to ground. It'll disconnect in the off position.

If you want to have a single coil option the pickup diagrams should show you what to do. If not, the setup is usually to take whatever two wires are connected together and taped off (black and white on Dimarzios, not sure about others) and have the on-off switch toggle between having them grounded and not grounded.

For the pickup selector, it's usually just an On/On/On DPST wired with the neck hot to one end, the bridge hot to the other end, the output jack hot to the middle lug, and ground from everything coming together in a gigantic orgy of hot, uncontrollable circuit-closing on the side of the switch or a pot.
