I was just wondering what you guys thought about these. I am thinking of buying some new pickups and I just wanted some feed back from you guys.

What are you putting them into , or more specifically , what kind of body wood ? I think they sound great in mahogany (the K7 and my "custom" 7620) , but I'm not sure about the other woods . Other questions would be : what kind of sound do you want , and what kind of music do you play ? I had a very high gain setup , and those pickups F'ing rocked - lots of clarity and lots of punch . But , it all depends on what your after ....

If my answers frighten you then you should cease asking scary questions.

I left out all of that stuff on purpose, I just wanted to know what you guys thought about them. But I would be putting them into alder, and basically I'm just looking for a lot punch and clean-ness in tone. Anymore feedback would be appriciated. (Thanks jski7).

Mind Riot is just really niceMind Riot is just really nice
I had it in the neck position of my old RG7421 and loved it. Check out my full review in the pickup thread stickied at the top of this forum.

Not sure how it would work in the bridge though, I never used it there.

I had a PAF7 in the neck of the AX (mahogany), and it was awesome there. When I moved it to the neck of my Carvin 727 (maple through, alder wings) it sounded like a blanket had been pushed into the speakers. that was surprising to me, as I thought the oppposite would happen. It sounded great for me in mahogany, though. And, it splits decently.

Thanx for the feedback guys. And Jim that is surprisng to me too because they (Dimarzio) recommend it for all positions. Maybe it was just the wood? I will also check out that reveiw too. Thanks again.

I had the PAF7 and a TZ7 combo, and moved them as a pair from the AX to the Carvin. Frankly, they both sounded far better in the mahogany AX than they did in the Carvin, though they were also an improvement over the stock Carvins. I would have kept the Carvin if I knew my custom body (ordered in Feb) still wouldn't be here. I would have bought Bartolinis for it, though. My new RG body will be alder and purpleheart, and that's getting Barts. I wouldn't go with another PAF7 in something other than mahogany. Maybe an AN7 if you're going with a DiMarzio, or a Blaze?
