![]() | Dented neck During transportation to or from a gig my band did a while ago, something heavy must have fel or rested on my guitarbag (i know, i should buy a case) and caused several dents in the back of the neck of my 7620. They're not craters, but they're deep enough to enoy or even distract me while playing around the 4th fret. In the meantime i've got used to it but i still could live without 'em. I have a feeling that it isn't repairable, since the neck has a finish on it, but since a lot of you seem to know an awful lot about guitars i still bother to ask: does anyone know if it is possible to fill those dents with some kind of fluid? |

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

For the good news, 7620 necks show up about once or twice a month on Ebay, so you can always get a replacement cheap. You can also order one through Ibanez through an Ibanez dealer, however their policy is that you must send them your banged up neck before they'll send you a replacement. |

![]() | Unfortunately i haven't got a digital camera at hand Leon, but i know some people who have so i could post a picture of it. The thing is, i'm not sure if you wil be able to see the dents on the picture. Even from up close they're barely noticable, but sure you can feel feel them when moving your thumb over them. Does Ibanez still sell 7620 necks (it's made in '99, so i believe it's UV-neck. Correct me if i'm wrong) ? The problem is, i recently sold the Caparison i owned and therefore the 7620 is my only guitar. It'll probably take a while for the neck to arive and in the meantime i'm stuck with just a guitarbody. Might be good for practicing airguitar on the other hand... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Try drop filling it with Epoxy. If you have a paint chip buy a paint pen that matches or if it's black you can use a sharpie marker, then drop fill it with epoxy or even super glue, then just scrape, sand and buff. P.s. if you decide on super glue and a marker test the marker and glue on something other than you guitar. Some colors change dramatically when super glue hits it. For example yellow marker turns a really cool red. Paint pens don't react, but they will become wet again so be carefull wiping ( the guitar that is )~A |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'd be superglue filling them. You clean it, drop fill like Allen said, and then use a small flat file to level off the excess. You can also lift dents to a certain degree with steam. So you can try a damp rag with a household iron, being very careful not to scorch the guitar or the rag. For smaller dents I'll often use a wet rag and a soldering iron in short bursts. You want a highly localized steam, right on the dent, not a full on steam bath for the whole guitar. |
