It's a very hot neck pickup. This is coming from a guy who owns 3 Air Nortons.

Ok, well thanks a lot guys, I'm definitely gonna go for the AN7

I just hope it's as good as you guys say it is. How much does string gauge matter? because if I chuck an extra $150 I won't have money left to get the guitar set up with some 10s and I'll have to play with the stock 9s.

you can probably do the string change yourself - really, it's just a question of adjusting your trem strings and maybe a slight truss rod adjustment - it's time consuming to get right, but manageable, and worth knowing.

A ST, I think - I believe it's the guitar in the picture on the back cover. (That might be an Ibby, though - I can't remember.)

Ah, I don't have the first album. Anyway, if it is an ST, cool, those are great guitars. In fact, I have an ST 3 body which I want to fit with a kahler and give a nice Samurai paint job. Should be excellent when it's finished.

Are you sure it was a BC Rich?

I looked into my Images and Words booklet today and inside it says that Petrucci exclusively uses Ibanez guitars... And the pic on the back of WDADU looks a lot like an Ibanez too...

Yeah, I agree that it's something worth knowing. The thing is, this is a brand new Prestiege Ibanez we're talking about. I have never owned such a high-quality instrument before, and I've had some bad experience with some do-it-yourself stuff I tried on my old guitar (one of which involved knocking out a chunk of my fretboard, lol, but it wasn't my fault)... So yeah, I'm a bit paranoid about that.

Is it much easier to adjust string height on a Floyd Rose since you can lower the strings just by changing the angle of the floating trem?

The pickups in my JP6 aren't nearly as hot as the stock "New 7s" in my 7620. I actually prefer the lower output, since they're not quite so brash I can run more gain without going fizzy and lower-gain work sounds more rounded and full.

Can you tap at low gain with the Petrucci Dimarzios/Air Nortons ?

EDIT: And does anyone know what kind of output the stock pups on the RG1527 have?
